On October 12, 2017 Travis Cal Styles had the extreme pleasure of showcasing my Spring/Summer 2018 during Kansas City Fashion Week held at the historic Union Station.  The collection for Spring 2018 titled, 1927, was inspired by my Grandmother who passed away in January of this year.

One of the best things about presenting my collection is seeing the immediate reaction from the crowd.  The is such an amazing feeling of satisfaction and completion when the looks are finally complete, hair and makeup are set, models are dressed, and one by one they take their turn down the runway.  I am overwhelmed with emotion every show because I know the hours that went into first designing, the building/creating each look, and finally managing all the details to make sure the show I imagine in my head is the show guest will experience.

Overall I had an amazing time presenting my collection, and will definitely return next October to present my Spring 2019.  With my Spring 2018 collection, I wanted to create a collection that was both classic and modern.  A reflection of who I imagined my grandmother to be in her early years and how that women would dress today.  I decided to take my signature mix of bold color, eclectic prints, and couture techniques balanced against classic silhouettes, and created a new look for my brand.

My favorite look from the collection was a black and gold brocade embroidered with bird of paradise flowers.  This 2-piece look worn by model Auset Noir appropriately titled the Goddess Gown was a crowd favorite.  From the moment the model made her entrance to the runway, she was met with a collective gasp from the audience, followed by a thunderous round of applause.  A definite sign that the crowd approved of what they saw.

This season, I was pleased to expand my collections to include tailored pants, jumpsuits and colorfully printed button down shirts.  I am a huge proponent of the print-on-print look and my entire men's collections reflected that trend.

Every collection features my signature bodysuits.  On the runway, the bodysuits are shown as a complete look, but in your reality, they can be paired with jeans, slacks, or a skirt for a more approachable everyday look.

The Sparkle Maxi Dress is a great piece for every woman that transitions easily from day to night.  This dress flatters a variety of body types and currently available for sale online in our boutique.

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to all the models, makeup artist, hairstylist, and the entire team at Kansas City Fashion Week for making this experience one for the record books.
